Clippings...Aug. 7, 1988....Picture...100th Birthday for Pauline Krug...Mrs. Krug was one of eight children born to Frederick and Katreina (sic) Nuss who came to Kansas from Russia. She was born Aug. 10, 1888 in Barton Co. and lived most of her childhood in that area. On Feb. 20, 1910, she married Fred Krug. The newlyweds began farming at the Krug homeplace, 10 miles south of Russell. In 1917 they build a new home at the same location, using rock from a stone quarry at the home site.....open house at the Elks Lodge.

Pauline Krug, Russell, daughter of Frederick & Katherina (Seigfried) Nuss, was born August 10, 1888 Barton county, KS. Her death occurred on Nov. 5, 1990 in the Andover Health Care Center, Andover, KS after a period of failing health. Her age was 102 years, 2 months, and 25 days.

Pauline lived her early life in the Barton and Russell County area, she received her basic education in the rural school near the family home and on Feb. 20, 1910 was united in marriage to Frederick Krug at the Schneider Church in northern Barton County. This union was blessed with three sons: Herman, Rudolph, and Arthur and one daughter Elma.

The family made their home on the farm where Pauline occupied her time with the many and varied activities of a farming housewife, homemaker, and mother. After her husband retired from farming, they moved to Wichita to live in 1942, returning to Russell in 1963 after their new home was built.

After the death of her husband Frederick on July 12, 1971, Pauline continued making her home in Russell until her health required closer attention and she moved to Haysville, KS to be with her daughter. She has resided in the Rest Home for only a short time.

Pauline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Bender Hill for many years before transferring to St. John Lutheran Church, Russell, where she has maintained her membership until her death.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents; husband Frederick; and two sons: Rudolph and Herman.

She is survived by son Arthur and his wife Phyllis of Wichita; daughter Elma Smith and her husband Dale of Haysville, KS; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Esther Krug and Lorraine Krug; several other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral service Nov. 7, 1990 at St. John Lutheran church with Rev. Michael Kerr officiating. Burial in Russell City Cemetery, Russell. Pohlmans Mortuary, Russell in charge.
