ALICE DAVENPORT spent her early years in Silverton, Marion County, Oregon and was married to a JOHN BERNARD there in about 1905 and they became the parents of a son, HOMER "BUD" TIMOTHY BERNARD in 1906. ALICE was divorced at the time of the 1910 U.S. Census and lived with her parents and her son, who was called "MAX" BERNARD, in Silverton, Marion County, Oregon when the Census was recorded.
After her father's death in 1911, ALICE moved to Los Angeles, California with her mother. She was married in Los Angeles to a GEORGE C. PECKHAM [born in Old Lyme, Connecticut 9 Feb. 1871] prior to the time the 1920 U.S. Census was taken and they made their home at 44 South Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles and then to 3305 Grand Ave. where they were both listed in the 1930 U.S. Census and in 1936 at the time of the Voter Registration.
ALICE and GEORGE PECKHAM divorced at about the time of the 1940 Census when she was listed as living with her sister and brother-in-law MARY DELL HAVENS and REED HAVENS in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California. Although she stated in the 1940 Census that she was married, her husband GEORGE C. PECKHAM was listed in West Moreland, Lane County, Oregon with his son ERNEST PECKHAM and family and he stated that he was "widowed".
ALICE [DAVENPORT] BERNARD - PECKHAM remained in the Glendale, California until her death in 1970.
