Dennis Farmer was the son of Frank Farmer &
Margaret (Gennett/Gemsill/Geunett) Farmer.

Dennis Farmer married Rosella "Rosalie" Perry. She was born circa 1845 in Ferrisburg, Vt., daughter of L. Perry/Parry & _________.^

Dennis' first wife, Rosella (Perry) "Rosalie" Farmer died 01 Oct 1882 at Conway, Mass., her body taken for interment to Greenfield, to the Catholic Cemetery there, now known as Calvary Cemetery.

Dennis re-married, he married Josephine LaCross, 31 Jan 1883, at Conway, Mass. Josephine was of North Adams, age 26. Dennis was age 40, a stonemason, of Conway.

Alfred/Arthur "Ray" b. May 1891

His marriage record to second wife Josephine lists his place of birth as Canada; but the birth record of son Ray lists Dennis' birth place as Burlington, Vt., as does Dennis' obituary. On Oct. 1, 1883 it was mentioned in Greenfield Gazette-Courier that Dennis was preparing to leave Conway.


Family Reunion Had Four Generations Present

A reunion of the Farmer Family was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Farmer. Four generations were present, the oldest being 82 years of age and the youngest 17 months. Two large tents were erected in front of the house and dinner was served in the tents. Those present were Mrs. Emily Perry of Shelburne Falls, 82, great grandmother to the children, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Farmer of this town and their nine children and their families: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farmer and three children, Shelburne Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Farmer, Detroit, Mich., William Farmer, Westfield; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Farmer and child, Conway; Mr. and Mrs. George Farmer and child, Shelburne Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Williams and two children, Shelburne Falls; Mr. and Mrs. H.I. Young and two children, Conway; Miss Josephine Farmer, Brattleboro, Vt., Alfred Farmer of this town.

Dennis died aged 90 at the home of his son Charles Farmer, 210 Elm Street, Greenfield; was a stone mason; had worked on the Hoosac Tunnel; left Burlington Vt. at the age of nine; retired 15 years prior to death; long time resident of Colrain and Conway; had moved to Greenfield about 1923 to live with his son; survivors were 3 daughters Mrs. Charles LaSalle of Worcester, Mrs. Carl Williams of Dalton, Mrs. Rose Young of Conway; and 6 sons: Frank of Nevada City, Colo., Denis of Detroit, William and Charles of Greenfield, George and Alfred of Turners Falls, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
