American-Jewish Actor. He made his off-Broadway debut in "Little Mary Sunshine." He appeared in "Fiddler on the Roof" on Broadway in the late 1960s. After, he played 'Motel,' the timid tailor in the 1972 screen version, a role that earned him an Academy Award Nomination as Best Supporting Actor.
