Father Kenneth was born Edward Clark Wimsatt in Stanley, Kentucky, on June 5, 1924. He professed vows as a Benedictine monk on August 10, 1944 and was ordained a priest on May 18, 1948. He served for many years as a professor of sacramental theology, philosophy and modern languages in the various departments of St. Meinrad Seminary. He was a founding member and first superior of the Benedictine mission in Huaraz, Peru and also served as Subprior of St. Charles Priory, Ocenside, California. He searched out a life of greater solitude as a monk of the experimental Mother of God Monastery, Oxford, North Carolina, for about a year before returning to St. Meinrad. He was a professor of German and Spanish in St. Meinrad College at the time of his sudden death from a heart attack.
