He is survived by one son, Doug Templin; four grandchildren, Jennifer Templin Dobson, Kimberly Shea Harmon, Doug Shea and Brian Shea; and nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Marvin Travis Templin, Athens, TN, sisters, Faye Ziglar, Ft. Walton Beach Fla., and Shirley White, Corpus Christi, TX. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy Hare Templin; and daughter, Carol Templin Shea.
After graduating from Benham High School in Kentucky, he moved to Portsmouth, VA and served his apprenticeship in blacksmithing. During WWII he served in both Atlantic & Pacific Campaigns as a Motor Machinist Mate. Following his discharge he returned to his blacksmithing job at NNSY. In 1955, he successfully completed training at NNSY and was promoted to a Mechanical Engineer Technician. In 1977, he retired from the Naval Ship Engineering Center in Norfolk after 37 years of government service. After a brief rest began working with a hospital kitchen systems business retiring from this job after 22 years. During this same time he enjoyed working with and helping his grandsons with their restaurant and catering business. He was a former member of Wesley Methodist Church and present member of Tabernacle Church of Norfolk.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A reception and slide show will follow at Tabernacle Church of Norfolk.
