Monument reads: "To The Memory Of The Ninety Eight Confederate Soldiers Who Lie Buried In This Cemetery. Erected By The Ladies Memorial Association Auburn, Ala. April 26, 1893."

Most of the soldiers buried in this part of Pine Hill Cemetery belonged to Confederate troops from Texas and were admitted to Auburn's Texas Hospital because they were wounded or became ill while serving in Alabama during the Civil War.
