At my residence, in Lewis, Cass county, Iowa, on the 5th day of July, 1873, at thirty minutes past four o'clock P.M., my mother Susan Maxson, who was the widow of Dea. David Maxson, formerly of Adams, N. Y., died of dropsy, after a lingering illness of over five months. Mother was born April 28th, 1799, and during most of the time since my earliest recollections, has been a member of some Seventh-day Baptist Church. Deacon Maxson was well known, as was my mother as his second wife.
