A native of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Boone played the position of Right Wing for teams in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), American Hockey League (AHL), Quebec Hockey League (QHL), Western Hockey League (WHL), National Hockey League (NHL), Eastern Pacific Hockey League (EPHL), and the International Hockey League (IHL). At 5'07", and 158lbs, he played for the St. Catharines Teepees from 1951 to 1952, St. Louis Flyers from 1952 to 1953, Quebec Aces from 1953 to 1954, and 1958 to 1959, Edmonton Flyers from 1953 to 1954, Springfield Indians from 1954 to 1958, Boston Bruins from 1956 to 1958, Providence Reds from 1958 to 1959, Kingston Frontenacs from 1959 to 1961, Winnipeg Warriors from 1960 to 1961, San Francisco Seals from 1961 to 1962, Vancouver Canucks from 1962 to 1965, Los Angeles Blades from 1965 to 1967, and the Des Moines Oak Leafs from 1968 to 1970.
