Mathias Hagman Immigrated here from Switzerland after the death of his first wife Anna Siefried and 2 children Mathias Jr. and Anna in 1865. He remarried to Miss Anna Dutler in Illinois, and moved the family to Deepwater Mo. He ran the bank in Deepwater, until he retired, and moved to a farm in nearby Clinton Mo, where he eventually passed away.

Mathias Hagmann Sr. worked as a mason in Illinois and later in Missouri. His son Mathias Hagman Jr. was the president of Farmers Bank of Deepwater, MO, per Deepwater World, 12 Nov 1914, p. 8. Anna Seifried, Matt Sr.'s first wife, died in Switzerland in 1863, per a letter written by Matt Jr. to his daughter Ruth Hagman Scullin. Mathias Sr. came to the USA from Port of Departure, Antwerp, Belgium, on the ship Wilberforce with four of his children, Matt Jr. , Gallus, Ursula, and Anna, who are all listed on the ship's manifest.
