He was born July 23, 1916, on a farm northwest of Ivanhoe and moved to Ivanhoe when he was one year old, and remained a lifelong resident of Ivanhoe. Frank graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1936. On January 20, 1942, he was married to Martha Chlopkowiak (Club). Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Western Pacific as a military policeman. He was discharged December 15, 1945. He began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Ivanhoe for 35 years. Frank retired in 1978.
He loved fishing and hunting with his friends during his younger years, volunteering at the Ivanhoe Senior Dining Center. He was very grateful for all the visitors who came to visit during his "golden years". He was a lifetime and faithful member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He cherished his faith.
Frank & Martha had three children, twins: Gordon of Marshall and Gloria (Ron) Stelter of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Suzanne Zinda of Oconomowoc, WI; grandchildren: Pamela (William) Harrer of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Douglas (Reyna) Stelter; great-grandchildren: Caleb & Gabriela Stelter; sister: Christine Callow of Marshall, who is a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, of 41 years, who died on September 6, 1983. It was a lonely 25 years. He will be missed by all his special care givers – especially Bob Knoff & Myron Knofcznski, Dr. Todd McCluskey & nurse, Dana & her staff for their great care.
A visitation for Frank will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2008, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe. Prayer service with rosary to follow will be held at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Father Andy Michels will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ivanhoe. Family services provided by Birk Funeral Home.
