She was a graduate of Doak High School and Greeneville Business School. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Greeneville Lumber Co.
Mrs. Casteel was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Crusader's Class.
Survivors include her "very devoted and loving" husband of 62 years: James M. Casteel; four sister and three brothers-in-law: Louise Booker and Clarice and Stanton Whittaker, all of Greeneville, Marlene and Earl Howe of Afton and Jean and Donald Seaton of Greeneville; a sister-in-law: Alma C. Holder; two nephews: Ray Tullock of Midway and Kenneth Casteel of Greeneville; four nieces: Linda Womac of Limestone, Barbara Fellers of Afton, and Diane Foreman and Angela Goods, both of Greeneville; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; several cousins; and a host of friends.
She was a daughter of the late Glenn E. Hope, and Lucy Holder Hope and was preceded in death by her stepmother: Nina Beals Hope; her son: Allen Casteel; and a brother: Robert G. "Bob" Hope.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 6 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. "Bo" Hankins and the Rev. Sam Smith will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 2:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Goods, Allen Carter, Kenneth Casteel, R.L. Bowling, Donald Seaton, Stanton Whittaker, Earl Howe, Tom Foreman, Eddie Holt, Jaret Foreman, Charlie Paxton, and Mike Lane.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McCracken, Clarence Ferguson, Dr. James Rodgers, Dr. Thomas Beckner, Rex Solomon, and the staff of Birch Wing at Life Care Center of Greeneville.
