Great Grandpa Henry was first married to Agnes Hornung on January 4, 1887, in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri. She passed away six months later from typhoid fever. On December 8, 1887, he married Katherine Tillman, in Kansas City, Missouri. Their first two children were born in Missouri. By 1895 they had moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where they had three more children. After their last child, Harry, was born in 1902, Great Grandma Katie became ill and passed away. Shortly after her death, baby Harry passed away from milk fever.

On January 1, 1905, Great Grandpa married Anna Downing, who had one daughter. She became the step-mother to Anna, Charles, Kate and Henry. In the early 1900s, Great Grandpa worked at the packing plant and later was employed as a custodian for the public school system. By 1910, the family had moved back to Kansas City, Missouri.

At the time of his death, he lived at 1325 Charlotte. Great Grandpa Henry was on duty at Karnes School when he had a heart attack and passed away. He was survived by his two daughters, Anna and Katherine; his two sons, Charles and Henry; step-daughter, Mrs. Kate Watson; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Services were held at Quirk & Tobin Funeral Parlor.
