He was born on Smoky Avenue here Nov. 10, 1873, one of three children of Mary A. Bostwick and Miles Chase. he attended the old Schenevus Academy and later enlisted in the Spanish-American War. he was in the Philippine Islands for three years from March 14, 1899. After his return to the United States, he was employed in the General Electric Company, Schenectady.
He married Fannie L. Baldwin of Westford, December 21, 1904. The family made its home on the Baldwin homestead farm in westford.
He is survived by his widow, who devotedly cared for him during his failing health; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Bilby, now residing at home, and two grandchildren, June and Sherman Bilby; a brother, Lester H. Chase of this village; one sister, Mrs. Rose Chase Sperbeck of Richfield Springs, a niece, two nephews and numerous cousins. he was fond of his home, an indulgent father and kindly neighbor.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Tillapaugh funeral home on Arch street. The Rev. Charles M. Adams, pastor of the M.E. church, officiated.
