Served in the 38th Infantry Division and trained at Camp Shelby Mississippi. He was a Staff Sargent. Went to the South Pacific where he was in the invasion of Guatemala and the Philippines. He was wounded in the head in the battle of Zig Zag Pass in the Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star and the Medal of Valor.
