Alma Kechter, 87, of Gering, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Heritage Estates.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 15, at Salem Congregational Church with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made in care of the church. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements.Alma was born Oct. 15, 1924 in Bayard to Fred and Lydia (Schwindt) Rexius. At an early age she moved with her family to Scottsbluff where she grew up. She received her education in area schools. Alma married Harold Kechter Jan. 12, 1941 in Harrisburg. In 1944 they moved to Minatare, where she worked for an area business. In 1976 they moved to Scottsbluff. Alma retired from Midwic Corporation in 1980. Her husband preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of Salem Congregational Church, Salem Study Circle, Friendship Bible Study and the choir. Alma loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her son, Michael (Judy) Kechter of Rupert, Idaho; daughter, Patricia Eskam of Kent, Wash., and son, Richard Kechter of Burley, Idaho; sister-in-law, Lenora Rexius of Sioux City, Iowa; half brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Doris Zeiler of Gering; sisters-in-law, Caroline Rexius and Rachel Rexius of Scottsbluff; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Alma in death were her parents; husband; four brothers; two sisters; son-in-law, Alvin Eskam; a grandson and a great-grandson.
