Betty B. Barnyak July 9, 1925 May 9, 2014 Betty B. Barnyak, 88, of Sandy Ridge, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at the home of Steve and Kathy Barnyak with whom she had resided for the past 10 months. She was born July 29, 1925, at Beech Creek, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (Confer) Bechdel. She was married to Joseph Howard Barnyak, who died in 1995. She is survived by sons, Steve Barnyak (Kathy), Joseph Barnyak (Kathy) and Richard Barnyak (Betty Jo), all of Sandy Ridge. There are 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Cindy Bailey. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul. She was a loving mother and a tremendous cook. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She and her husband operated the Hi-View Hotel Restaurant for many years then owned a construction company. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Ralph Hamer officiating. Inurnment will be at Shanks Cemetery, Route 150. Contributions in her memory may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 1015 Logan Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
