Charles Byron Wetzel was born in Waukegan, Lake County, Illinois. The youngest son of Elizabeth and Nicolas Wetzel, both of Alsace-Lorraine- France. Charles married Julia Sophia Dietmeyer 31 Oct 31,1879 in Waukegan, Lake County.He was predeceased by his wife Julia in 1929; and their son William Byron in 1939. Charles and Julia had three children and he is survived by their daughter Laura Elizabeth Piquette and son George Frederick. At the age of 88 years Charles died in Waukegan, Lake County.
