Fredrick Hofferber, 73, of 809 W. Fifth died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Apfel Butler Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev Henry Beatty will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island Cem.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the VA Medical Center Chapel.
Mr. Hofferber was born Jan. 16, 1908, at Geneva, the son of Jacob and Katherine Liebsack Hofferber. When he was a child the family moved to a farm near Norfolk. He grew up and received his education at Norfolk. He then became a mechanic in the Norfolk area. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942, serving in the European Theater. He was discharged in February 1946.
On De. 27, 1950, he married Viola Stong at Columbus. They lived in several Nebraska communities where he was a mechanic. They moved to Grand Island in 1962. He worked for the Meyers Equipment Co., retiring in 1970.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the VFW chapter in Grand Island.
Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mariette Hofferber, of Grand Island, and a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Mollie) Craft of Grand Island.
