Janet Barker Hager loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, historian , writer and friend passed away at home 03/16/2012 after a long and hard fight with cancer. She was born on March 19th 1935 on the Barkers Fork of Garretts Fork in Logan County WV to Robert and Ida Stollings Barker. The memories and love of her birth place stuck with her throughout her life.
She will be missed and thought of in the hearts of family and friends for eternity. Janet was a loving wife to William Hager of Hewett for 61 years and mother of daughter Bonita Hager of Madison WV, son Bruce Hager and special friend Debbie Vickers of Hewett WV, son Carlos and wife Theresa Hager of Cartersville GA and daughter Jeanne Hager Carter of Destin Florida. She had six grandchildren and three great grandchildren who where her great joy in life. Brother Robert and wife Linda Barker of Wheeling? WV, Sister Rossa and husband Lewis Ellis of Kill Devil NC and Sister Louise Hager of Atlanta GA.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Robert ‘Bob' and Ida Stollings Barker and brother Palmer Barker along with grandson William ‘Billy' Conley of Hewett.
Along with her love of family and friends her passion for learning stood out during her life. She was known for her strong mind and knowledge of family and local histories. Janet was known throughout the Country among like minded people from coast to coast who searched her out for stories and information related to family and historical data. She was a proud member of the local Genealogy Society and a long and well known fixture in the record rooms of courthouses around southern WV.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012 at Meadow Fork Freewill Baptist Church at Hewett, WV. Burial will follow in the Hager Cemetery at Meadow Fork, Hewett WV.
Family and fiends will serve as pallbearers...
