John Waughtel, aged 80, died at his home 1/2 mile south of town last Sat. morning after a long and painful illness of dropsy and heart trouble. He leaves besides his wife, 5 sons by a former marriage and one son, Kenny, a daughter Mrs. Alice Cooper of Indianapolis and a stepdaughter Mrs. Bertha Williams of Connersville by the last marriage. Funeral services at M. E. Church conducted by Rev. A. R. Miles on Monday morning.
NOTE: John Waughtel and his first wife Eliza Ann Keith were my great grandparents. Eliza Ann died January 1889 and John married Kate Webb nee' Carson July 1889. Although there is no known burial site (to me, at least) of either John nor Eliza Ann, I feel John is buried here since Kate is, but in an unmarked gravesite.
