Charles Wakefield Gowin, 89, Owenton Manor resident for the past two years, formerly of Louisville, died 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at the Manor following a long illness. A native of Taylorsville, he attended Georgetown College, lived in Princeton about 14 years where he managed a J.C. Penny Store and was a state employee retiring from the Department of Unemployment. He was a 50-year member of the Crescent Hill Masonic Lodge No. 820 and a member of Deer Park Baptist Church in Louisville. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Whitehead, Owenton, Mrs. Ann Taylor, Cincinnati; a son Richard Gowin, Louisville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. yesterday(Wednesday) at Highland Funeral Home, Louisville. Masonic services were held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
