Carlos enlisted in the Marines 10 April 1963, at a New York Recruiting Office.
Upon arriving in Vietnam, Carlos was assigned to H & S Company, 3rd Anti-Tank Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.
Carlos died of a gunshot wound to the upper chest from sniper fire while on a patrol when his platoon walked into an ambush, 3 kilometers south southwest of Marble Mountain Airfield.
Tour of duty unknown.
Carlos was single and served his country for two years.
He was the first Hispanic to die in Vietnam.
Survived by his step-father & mother; Norman & Maria Figueredo of Urbanizacion Pedro Camejo, Bioque J8-A-6, Caracas, Venezuela.
His father; Charles Torbay was deceased.
