Trouble Never Comes Singly
Mrs. Jessie Angleton, wife of an honest and hardworking employee of the Carthage Stone Company, died at her home on Tiger Hill this morning after a sickness of some months of cancer of the stomach. Her death has been expected for some days and her husband, who is a poor man, has been making efforts to raise the necessary money for her funeral expenses.
Angleton had two horses and had arranged to raffle them off to raise the money. The tickets were made out and the raffle was to have been held today but one of the horses - the most valuable one - wander away from home this morning and falling over the limestone bluff near Tiger Hill, and broke its neck.
Neighbors and others who know of the circumstances say that the case is deserving of charity. This, Angleton dislikes to ask, but will probably have to do so or call on the county to bury his wife. The interment will occur sometime tomorrow.
