Funeral services for Hurbert Bates Sr., 64, of Gonzales, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Providence Baptist church, with interment in the City cemetery.
Surviving Mr. Bates are his wife Georgia of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Miss Hazel Bates and Mrs. Joyce Marie Spiller, both of Corpus Christi; two sons, Hurbert Jr. and Willie Roy, both of Corpus Christi; his father, Willie D. of Gonzales, four brothers and 10 grandchildren.
He was a former employee with the Gonzales Inquirer.
Kelley-Barfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
