Painter. Youngest of four children, his father ran a painting and decorating business in Marseille. An artist from an early age, Camoin studied briefly under master Gustave Moreau before his death. Fellow students were Matisse, Marquet, and Manguin. During his three years in the military, Camoin met master artist Cezanne, who he frequently corresponded with. Camoin's first solo exhibition was in 1908. He painted impressionistic and expressionistic styles.
