Thomas Seddon was baptized on 9 April 1817 at Ormskirk. He was the third son and child born to Phoebe (nee Prescott) and Richard Seddon, a farmer at Barrow Nook Farm at St Helen's Bickerstaffe. Thomas became a School Master, residing at Eccleston. In 1840 he became the Headmaster of Eccleston Free Grammar School. He resided at School Brow, Eccleston, Prescot, Lancashire. On 8 February 1842, Thomas married Jane Lindsay, a School Mistress at Hills School Brow Denominational School in Eccleston. Thomas retired in 1862 and his beloved wife, Jane died on 27 October 1868. His son, Richard John Seddon who had immigrated to New Zealand in 1866, asked his Father to come and join him in New Zealand. Thomas left England in 1871 but became ill on the voyage. He landed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and stayed with the Spotswoods, the Family of his Daughter-in-law, Louisa Jane Seddon. Unfortunately, Thomas didn't recover from his illness and died in Williamstown, a suburb of Melbourne on 19 December 1871.
