Age 78, of 516 Buffalo Street, Manitowoc, died at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay, following surgery two weeks before.

The former Helen Stiefvater was born February 1, 1888 at St Nazianz, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (nee Binversie) Stiefvater.

She attended St Gregory school in St Nazianz and was employed at a clerk at Elm Tree Bakery in Appleton for seven years prior to her marriage to John N Griesbach on October 14, 1913 at St Joseph's Church in Appleton.

After their marriage the couple operated a farm in Marathon County and resided briefly in Rozellville, Wisconsin, before coming to Manitowoc in 1928.

Survivors included her husband, John; a son, John Jr.; and seven daughters, Mrs Margaret Silbersack, Mrs Edwin Komoroski, and Mrs Ira Klabunde of Two Rivers, Mrs Dolores Englebracht and Mrs Irving Johnson of Manitowoc, Mrs Willard Matthias of Cleveland and Mrs Don Loughrin of Princeton; two brothers, Richard of Glendive, Montana; and and Edward of Mishawaka, Indiana; a sister, Mary of Manitowoc, 37 granchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
