Born in Butler TN of Joseph Stanley Atwood and Emma Caroline Morgan, she spent the majority of her adult life in Ohio and Texas where she managed several restaurants.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Julius Jenks, and brothers Bud and George Atwood and sister Ruth Shaver.
She is survived by brothers Charles and Clay Atwood and sister Joyce Bullard, as well as children Deborah Warwick, Kathy Henninger, Larry Tester, Randy Tester, and Robin Maibach. She was loved and adored by her 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
A brief memorial service will be held at Veterans Memorial Funeral Home at 10567 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, TX at 9:15 am on Friday March 30, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Emma Maibach through Deborah Warwick at 387 Nora Ridge, Catawba SC 29704.
