THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, February 19, 1981..

Mrs. Pearl Conder, 94, of Rt.#1, Powderly, died February 15, 1981, in a Paris Hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, February 17, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Yarbrough and Ray Starnes officiating. Burial was in Long Cemetery.

Mrs. Conder was born in Powderly on June 29, 1886, a daughter of Joel Campbell Frederick and Laura Caroline Strange Frederick. She married Elias William 'Will' Conder on 1 Jan 1911. She was a native of Lamar County and had resided in Powderly all of her life. She was a great-granddaughter of the late William P. Lond and Ann Harrison Long, who were early settlers of the Palestine community in Lamar County and donors of the land for Long Cemetery.

Mrs. Conder attended public schools at Powderly and East Texas State Normal College in Commerce during the early 1900's. She later taught school in Oklahoma. She was a charter member of the Powderly First Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Conder in January 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Crede (Jack) Moore of Tyler and Mrs. Wilma (Ted R.) Stalder of Houston; four sons, Lowell Conder of Jefferson, Howard Conder of Dallas, Joel Conder of Bedford and Morgan Conder of Irving; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Brackeen and Ophelia Frederick, both of Powderly; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ronald, Thomas and Charles Posey, John T. Copeland, Monty Lee Hostetler and John H. Gray.
