Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Calvin Chapel in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donald Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mrs. Katherman was born Dec. 23, 1894, in Terwolde, Holland, the daughter of Gerrit and Hendrika (Lankhorst) Visser. She came to America in 1903. She attended and graduated from Monroe High School in Monroe, S.D. She attended Yankton College.
She moved to Sioux City in 1919 and received her degree as a graduate nurse from Samaritan Hospital.
She was then employed as a operating room nurse with Samaritan Hospital.
She married Dr. Charles A. Katherman on June 3, 1921, in Minneapolis. Her husband died June 10, 1955, in Sioux City.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and many circles in the church. She was a founder of the Sioux Medames, an organization of doctor's wives. she was active in the Samaritan Home, where she served on the board of directors for over 25 years. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter GR.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert S. and Carolyn of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara J. and Wrede Smith and Mary J. and Neal Post, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Wrede Smith Jr., Roberta Rohlena, Garrett Smith, Jeanne Thilo, Charles E. Katherman, Robert V. Katherman, Kathy Wright, Deborah Humes and Neal Post Jr.; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Pallbearers will be her family.
