She attended elementary school at the Johnson Country School (near Townsend), Helena Senior High School for her freshman year and completed her high school education at Broadwater County High School in Townsend. She then attended and received a degree in education from Eastern Montana College in Billings. Upon receiving her degree, she taught school one year at Dry Creek Elementary School (near Toston) and one year at her former school (Johnson Country School) prior to marrying F. B. Fritz and Vi raised two children, a daughter, Sharon "Shari" Gray of Helena, and a son, Frederick "Rick" Weed of Santa Fe, N.M.
During the early years of marriage, Vi worked two years for the Helena Housing Authority (Stewart Homes), two years in the Mortgage-Loan Dept. of Western Life Insurance Co. before joining Fritz and the staff of Helena Abstract & Title Co. in 1954. In 1956 she and Fritz purchased Helena Abstract & Title Co., Broadwater County Abstract Co. and Jefferson Abstract Co. In 1958 she became a registered abstracter working "side by side" with Fritz until they retired in 1977.
During their retirement years Vi enjoyed gardening, golf and traveling. They enjoyed many cruises but the most enjoyable was treating their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to an Alaskan cruise last summer to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.
