John Woodman was one of 11 children of David Woodman and Mary SHORT Woodman of Newbury, Massachusetts.

John Woodman's first wife, and THE MOTHER OF ALL HIS CHILDREN, was Hannah Jackman, born 2 September 1722 at Newbury, Massachusetts, daughter of John Jackman. On 12 December 1751, as Hannah Adams (the widow of David Adams who died 18 May 1751) she married John Woodman at Newbury, MA. (Newbury and Haverhill VR).
John and Hannah JACKMAN Woodman had six children, all found recorded in Mass. Town Records, except John, Jr.

No grave has been located for Hannah JACKMAN Woodman. She is undoubtedly buried in the Woodman Cemetery, unless she possibly died before or during the family's move to Maine.

John Woodman came from Newbury and was in Maine by the late 1760s. Land on the east bank of the Sheepscot River was surveyed for John Woodman on 8 June 1767, being Lot #70 of a plan of lots in Pownalborough.

The Mary Woodman buried in the Woodman Cemetery #88068690 was Mary COOPER Woodman, John Woodman’s second wife, married at Pownalborough 16 August 1770. There were no children by the second marriage.
