Inscription

In memory of
Mifs Polly Hale. dau. of
Col. Nathan Hale &
Mrs. Abigail his wife
who died Sept. 26th 1795
Aged 17 years & 5 months

How frail is youth! how soon its roses fade!
And left their charms in deaths terrifick shade.
The parents fondest hopes is snatch'd away.
And all that's left is poor corrupting clay.
But souls redeem'd shall live beyond the tomb
In youthful vigour and immortal bloom.
