Mary A. was born in October, and Christened in County Kent on 12 November 1826. She was the second of 8 children born to William & Frances Bartlett.

Mary A & older brother James, both immigrated to the US along with their families. Their sister, Jane, and other siblings William, Boyce, Ann, Emma & Richard all died as children in England. Children & grandchildren of Mary A and James were named in their honor.

She married John Finn on 10 May 1845 in Marden, County Kent.

Mary A & John had 4 other children than those listed below:
*3 who were born & died in England between Feb 1846, and May 1849.
*Emma Finn Makinson (b. 1853 Ohio, d. abt. 1897 Arkansas, m. 21 December 1873 to Thomas Makinson)

She immigrated with John and oldest child, Mary Ann, in 1849, first to New Jersey before finally settling in Ohio.

on the 1900 census, Mary A states that she had borne 10 children, but only 5 were alive at the time.

Her youngest child, Jemima, was born just 7 wks after John passed away. Mary A never remarried. She raised the 7 remaining children on her own, and ran the family farm.

Mary A lived almost 40 years past John's death, surrounded by the love & frequent visits of her many children & grandchildren. She passed away at age 75, having become a US citizen in 1856.
