Abigail "Abi" Hole was the daughter of Jacob Charles Hole and Mary Thomas, born in Loudoun Co, VA. Abi's family removed to Goose Creek MM in 1787, the same meeting where her future Preston in-laws had removed to in 1783. The Hole family later removed to Bedford Co, VA.

Abi married Peter Preston on 28 March 1808 in Bedford County, VA. About 1825, Abi and Peter moved their family from Lynchburg, VA to Columbiana Co, Ohio, primarily, due to strong feelings against slavery. Abi died at the family "Fancy Farm" in Lynchburg (now part of Kensington), buried at Quaker Ridge Cemetery at site of old Augusta Friends Meeting House, located at intersection of Andora and Starling Road, on boundary of Augusta Twp, Carroll Co & West Twp, Columbiana Co, Ohio.
