Winifred passed away in the Silver Lake section of Staten Island.

She was the widow of Adolph Jantz who predeceased her in 1983.

She had been a life long Staten Islander & a member of the 1940 graduating class of Port Richmond High School. She went on to earn a BS in Culinary Arts in 1944 from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn,NY.

Over the years, Winifred had worked on Staten Island for Gerber Co, Beach-Nut Co, New York-Richmond Gas & Bernstein Intermediate School in Huguenot before retiring in 1981.

During the late 1940's - mid 1960's, she'd left the workforce to raise her two sons. One of her sons said of her: "She was a loving, kind person who was always doing for others. She left a loving impression on all the people's lives she touched."

Winifred had been a member of the Reformed Church of Prince Bay for over 50 yrs. She served as a church deacon, was president of the Ladies' Guild and had assisted with the running of the church's youth group. Winifred maintained membership in the Church Women United organization. She had enjoyed traveling with family & friends and was known for her wonderful butter cookies.
