Funeral services were held Friday in the Stateline Freewill Baptist Church for Lavinia Quillen of Ardmore, Ala., who died Wednesday, August 23, 1989, in the Humana Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. She was 68.
The Rev. Charles Marable and the Rev. Edmond James officiated. Burial followed in the Gatlin Cemetery with Gallant Funeral Home in Hazel Green, Ala., in charge of all arrangements.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Barbara Highlander Burks, a retired spooler with the Huntsville Manufacturing Co., and was a member of Stateline Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by four sons, Donald Gene Quillen and Michael Quillen, both of Ardmore, Floyd Quillen, Jr., of Texas, and Timothy Quillen of Madison, Ala.; two daughters, Edith Hensley of Huntsville, and Wilma Sylvester of Toney, Ala.; a brother, Edward Burks of Elkhart, In.; six sisters, Priscilla Coronett of Athens, Ala., Lily Thomas of Milwaukee, Wis., Hannah Stutts of Florence, Ala., Myrtle Risoner and Viola Holt, both of Iron City, and Agnes Hines of Killen, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
