Byford E. Webster, age 92, of West Frankfort, departed this life Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Byford was born February 26, 1920, in West Frankfort, the son of Richard Freeman Webster and Goldia Mae Clemons. He married Dixie Piggott October 12, 1963, and she died January 25, 1999.

He was a carpenter who built many homes in the area. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of the Benton VFW, oldest living member of the Benton American Legion, the Benton Eagles, and Carpenters Local # 636. He enjoyed fishing, raising rabbits, and gardening. He never met a stranger and was a great pleasure to talk to.

Survived by his sons: Charles R. Webster and wife Sondra of Benton, David L. Webster and wife Sharon of Benton, and Brett Webster and wife Traci of West Frankfort. Daughter Laurie Webster of West Frankfort; Grandchildren: Kevin Webster (Jennifer); Kerri Cottle (Jim); Scott Webster (Holly); Krista Marlow (Jeff); Brendon Webster; Whitney Morgan; Kevin Spain; Brad Denham. Great Grand: Brad and Bethany Cottle; Alison, Emma, and Ryan Webster; Bailey and Brooklynn Webster; Matthew and Mason Marlow. Kaiden and Tristan Garcia. Extended family: Brent Auten, Derek , Bradlenn , and Hunter Loeh. Sister: Geraldine Adams of West Frankfort.

Byford was preceded in death by by parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday; April 18, 2012, in Varis-Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toedy Holley-Gray officiating. Interment will be in Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery Benton, IL. Friends of the Byford Webster family may call 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Varis-Stone Funeral Home in West Frankfort.
