He was the son of James Miller (1912-1967) and Daisy Belle Parker Schoolcraft (April 2012 - still living - age 101) Akard.

He graduated from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Johnson Co, Indiana.

He first married Janet Louise Morris in Sep of 1962 in Greenwood, Johnson Co, Indiana.

Their child: Anna Kristina 'Tina' Akard.

He second married Delores Faye Hayden on Sep 15, 1984 in Martinsville, Morgan Co, Indiana.

Their children: William Lee Akard; Willard Dale Akard (1970-1989) and Roxanne D Chapman.

He was previously employed as a millwright at Navistar in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Akard of Martinsville; his mother, Daisy Schoolcraft of Franklin; three children: Bill Akard of Coal City; Tina Akard of St Augustine, Florida and Roxie (Tim) Chapman of Martinsville; a sister: Carol (Jim) Wheat of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Akard; and a son, Willard Akard.

He died at age 72 years 2 months 2 days at Franciscan St Francis Health in Mooresville, Indiana.
