Christine Larson, 82, of Lisbon, ND formerly of Oakes, ND, passed away April 14, 2012, at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Christine Wald, daughter of Adam and Magdalena (Gross) Wald was born July 24, 1929 at Wishek, North Dakota, where she grew up and attended school. In 1943, she moved with her family to Oakes, and graduated from Oakes High School in 1947. After graduating, Christine worked at the Ben Franklin Store and Gamble's Grocery in Oakes until 1951. She was united in marriage to Orlin Larson on November 26, 1951. Christine moved into Oakes in 1972, and worked in local cafes and also at the Good Samaritan Center. In 1979, she began working as the cook for the Senior Citizens Center for fifteen years, retiring in 1990. Christine became a resident of Parkside Lutheran Home in Lisbon in July of 2010.

Christine loved to cook homemade items, especially her German dishes. She was always trying new recipes and entertaining everyone with her humor. Christine had an "open door" for everyone and was a "second mom" to many. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Russell Larson, Oakes, ND, and Eugene Larson of Idaho; two daughters, Jodi (Ben) Bement, Ogema, MN, and Janelle Larson, Wahpeton, ND; nine grandchildren, Robin (Sean) Jones, Lucas (Carla) Larson, Cody (Emilee) Larson, Erica Bement, Michael Bement, Jordyn Bement, Hayley Bement, Alysha Novak, and Kandice Novak; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Evan, Adria, Andy, Brennan, and Autumn. She is also survived by four sisters, Catherine Meyer, Spooner, WI, Monica Podolak, Enumclaw, WA, Sister Veronica Wald, Mankato, MN, Sister Alice Wald, Mankato, MN; two brothers, Joe Wald, Chehalis, WA, and Tony (Mary) Wald, Bismarck, ND; two sisters-in-law, Maggie Wald, Edgeley, ND, and Phyllis Wald, Adrian, MI; and one brother-in-law, Fred Remien, Enumclaw, WA.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Adam Wald, Valentine "Wally" Wald, Andy Wald and Pete Wald; sisters, Maggie Remien, Eva Wilkes, and Dorothy Schlosser.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Oakes, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes. Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery near Oakes.
