Rites Tuesday For Ben Swenor

Petsokey News-Review 21 Mar 1960

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Stone Funeral Home for Ben Swenor, 78, who died Saturday evening at Lockwood General Hospital. Mr. Swenor had suffered a stroke two weeks ago. Rev. Russell King will officiate and internment will be in Alanson cemetery.

He was born in Antrim county February 23, 1882. He married the former Emma Sadler in rites at Alanson on February 4, 1903. The couple resided there for four years before moving to Petoskey. He was a carpenter by trade and was employed at the Petoskey Portland Cement Company for many years. During the years of World War II, he was employed at Detroit.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Millard, of Davison, Berhord(?) of Detroit, Hobart of Davison, Gordon and Everett of Petoskey; four daughters, Mrs. Arley (Lieth) Watson of Flint, Mrs. Rena Lewis of North Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Fred (Elsie[?]) Tallman of Cheboygan and Mrs. Glenn (Teresa) Cumberland of Petoskey, andother daughter, Mrs. Steve (Geneva) Rostar died in 1946. Mr. Swenor is also survived by 41 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Stone funeral home where friends may call.
