Eldridge Ellison, Sr., 69, of Nimitz, died at 11:15 p.m. Friday in the Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley, following a long illness.
Born at Crow, Raleigh County, November 30, 1897, he was a son of the late Nathaniel and Sylvira Richmond Ellison and had lived at Nimitz for the past 40 years.
He was a former employee of the Meadows Furniture Company for many years, and was a member of the Nimitz Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lalon Ellison, Nimitz; one son, Eldridge Ellison Jr., Hinton; three daughters: Mrs. Lloyd Harvey, Mrs. Eva Dobbins, both of Nimitz, and Mrs. G. C. Allen Jr., Hilldale; one stepson, Garland Tyree, Brooks; and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Patty Ames of Nimitz; two brothers: Cleve, Denver, Colorado, and Ray, Ronceverte.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors with the Rev. Howard Spencer and the Rev. Leo Lambert in charge. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park.
