Joanne Barber, age 67, of Newark, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Mrs. Barber was a member of the last class to graduate from Memorial School of Nursing. She worked and retired as a registered nurse from Union Hospital and then went on to work for St. Francis Hospital for over ten years and was considered a special friend to many co-workers. Mrs. Barber enjoyed riding with her husband on their motorcycle and taking cross country trips. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Barber is survived by her loving husband, William F. Barber; 3 sons: Bryan Barber, Glenn Barber and wife Carrie, Wade Barber and wife Colleen; sister, Jacqueline Rizzo; 5 grandchildren: Jacob, Caitlin, Madeline, Roslyn and Kayla; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Marie Davis; and parents, Harold Ollie Porter and Helen (Holmes) Porter.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 in Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 6pm-9pm and again on Saturday, April 21st from 9am-10am followed by a service in celebration of Joanne's life at 10am.
