Henry Bade, the son of Heinrich "Henry" Bode and Henrietta (Brockschmidt) Bode, was born February 25, 1870 on a farm in Hamel, Madison County, Illinois.
At the time of his birth, Henry's parents had both been married before, and he was welcomed into an extended family that included sister Mary Bode, and half-brothers John, Henry Charles, Frederick, and Edward Meikamp.
On April 7, 1896, Henry Bade married Louise Elizabeth Amanda Deibert, the daughter of Daniel Deibert and Wilhelmina (Stuckwisch) Deibert, at the home of Louise's parents in Marine Township, Madison County, Illinois. The Reverend Charles Theodore Kunz officiated. Monroe Deibert, brother of the bride, was the Best Man and Katherine Reding, niece of the groom, was the Maid of Honor. Nine children were born to this union, but only eight survived into adulthood:

Henry Bade was a well-known farmer, who for many years farmed near Alhambra.
Henry Bade died on July 18, 1929 at the home of his niece Mrs. Carl Miller in Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois. He died of chronic myocarditis or heart failure.
Funeral services were held July 20, 1929 at the Evangelical Church in Marine, Madison County, Illinois. The Reverend O. E. Muensterman officiated. Burial was in the Marine City Cemetery.
