Gilbert Harold "Doc" Stiles

Gilbert Harold "Doc" Stiles, age 88, of Erie, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the home of his son in Girard. Born December 26, 1923, in Cherry Run, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Nettie Belle Starry Stiles.

Doc served in the US Army after which he was employed as a maintenance man and a mechanic.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working on cars and spending time with his family.

Doc was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Stiles, a daughter-in-law, Doris Lynn Stiles, a daughter, Wanda Adams, a granddaughter, Darlene Vasalinda, a sister, Vernie McGrath, a brother, Sidney Stiles, and a half brother, Clyde Smith.

He is survived by his second wife; two sons; four daughters; a sister; as well as 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

Funeral arrangements were through Burton Funeral Home, in Girard.
