Arrived from Maggia Switzerland in 1852 at the age of 17. Shortly after Gaudenzio purchased a 1,000 acre ranch in Tocaloma (Jewell) and started the first Dairy ranch in Marin. In 1880 the main house had burned down a new home was built and the ranch was leased out for dairy and Gaudenzio his wife Antonia (Antionette) moved to San Rafael where he had a successful feed and grain business on Fourth Street across from the Court House where later the Cheda Bank was built but not until after his death.
