GILROY, Dec. 12 [1931] - Private funeral services were held here this morning for Mrs. Selena [Selina] Eustice, 80, pioneer resident of California and this community, who died after several weeks' illness at the home of her son, Assistant Postmaster Willis W. Eustice. Born in Palatteville [near Platteville - actually British Hollow], Wisconsin as Selene [Selina] Richards, she crossed the plains with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Richards, and settled in Placerville, then known as Hangtown, in 1862. Moving to Gilroy in 1868, she married George Eustice in 1869. Surviving Mrs. Eustice is her son, Willis; eight grandchildren, Allene, Leland, Ellsworth, Harry, Lavinia, Mabel, Rosamund, and Rollen [Roleene], and two sisters, Mrs. A. E. Weymouth, Sacramento and Mrs. Susie Alderson of Oakland.
