Irene Barnett, 86, of Neosho, died Saturday afternoon at Freeman Neosho Hospital following a lengthy illnes.
She was born July 26, 1920 in Stella to Melvin Lee and Lois (Mosier) Jones.
Mrs. Barnett was a lifelong area resident, homemaker, and member of the Church of Hope, Neosho. She was an active member of Neosho Area Widow to Widow serving as the Sunshine Lady; it was her joy and responsibility to send each member a card on their birthday. She also loved to crochet and travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Barnett.
Survivors include one daughter, Christine M. Sumner, Neosho; one son, Paul L. Barnett, Anderson; one sister, Maxine Raines, Garden City, MO; five grandchildren, Brenda Sager,Paul Tabor, Lisa Ann Rosewicz, Donnie Sumner, Jr. and David Sumner; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Clark Chapel of Memories, Neosho, with Rev. Malcom Mosby officiating.
Pallbearers will be David Sumner, Chad Rosewicz, Cori Sager and Tom Horn. Burial will follow in in Union Cemetery, south of Stella. Friends may call at the Funeral Home 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
