Shirley J. (Davis) Schmidt, 73, of Salina, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012. She was born July 26, 1938, in Salina, the daughter of Lloyd Davis Sr. and Vanita (Sparks) Davis. Shirley enjoyed dancing, reading and being involved with all of her grandchildren's activities, but most of all, spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Schmidt, on April 21, 1998; one sister, Teresa Ozment; one brother, Denny Davis; and one grandson, Douglas Schmidt Jr.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Denise Schmidt, of Salina, and Debbie Watson and husband Randy, of McPherson; one son, Doug Schmidt and wife Marie, of Salina; one brother, Lloyd Davis, of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Meaghan Reitbrock, Melissa Watson, Phillip Watson and Jacob Schmidt; and four great-grandchildren, Payton Schmidt, Lindsey Schmidt, Kadyn Schmidt and Zanaya Townsend.

Visitation will be from noon-8 p.m. Monday, April 16, with the family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m., and a rosary recited at 6 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Memorial contributions may be given to Tammy Walker Cancer Center, and left in care of the mortuary.
